Reflection week 3

Honestly, I totally forgot about the reflection for last week. But better late than never, right? Here it comes!

I enjoyed week 2 more than week 3, maybe because the subjects of the lectures were to more of my interest the week before. The lectures are still interesting. There are a lot of pages to read for the test so now it’s time to study!

See you later!

Reflection week 2

The second week of the course has come to an end. So far I’m satisfyed with what I’ve learnt. The second week has been more theoretical which I like – what we did last week were mainly things I already knew about. This week we’ve had some great lectures! I was really impressed by Mattias skills in holding a presentation and since I’m a music nerd I found it really interesting (though, I do NOT order my cd records according to colour!).

This weekend I will finish reading “The Power of Social Networking – using the Whuffie Factor to build your business” by Tara Hunt. It is a great book! You learn a lot of it. Many things you kind of know about already but you still go “aha, that’s right!” when you read it. It makes me think of times I’ve gotten advantage from having good whuffie, both “internet-whuffie” and “IRL-whuffie” – they are kind of linked together (I pressume, haven’t gotten to the last chapter about whuffie IRL yet, but it’s kind of obvious, at least to my experience). For example, this summer I got free tickets to a consert thanks to my whuffie from blogging and commenting and facebooking.

Unfortunately, the whuffie factor-book is the only one I’ve got so I will spend some time in the library the next few days, but still looking forward to next week!

Just BONK it!

At today’s class we made a group presentation, presenting a proposal for a new bank.

BONK is more than just a bank, it’s an experience. Just BONK it! is our slogan.

Our aim is to be a compliment to your regular bank, a pay service. Our target group is young people, mostly students, in the age of 18 and up. Our main thing will be our application for smart phones but we will also have a software for computers. Interaction with our costumers will be through facebook, twitter, flickr, youtube and other social networks. For service, we will have a live chat with our bank men that is available all hours. We will also have a blog where we tell our costumers what’s going on and where they can comment, give critisism or compliments and send us ideas.

When you subscribe to BONK we will send you a folder home with information, that is easy read but still very informative. Our goal is to be easy to use, fast and serious but not boring. We want to take the “boring” out of banking and make it BONKing instead.

We will collaborate with other student services and bus companies. The idea of BONKing is to make it easier to pay, just put your card to our device and it’s BONKed! For more information about how to BONK it visit http://nipe1111.wordpress.com/ .

Our group consists of Linnea Mörth (me), Petter Nilsson, Sara Lundgren, Marina Risanjic and Emma Björkdahl.

Triumph of the Nerds (Triumph of Bill Gates)

Yesterday I finished watching Triumph of the Nerds. I have to be honest, the first part of it might have been the second most boring hour of my life, beaten only by the time I had to watch Narnia – Prince Casbian dubbed to swedish with three of my five younger sieblings. But then, especially in part two (in part three I almost fell asleep, but I think it had more to do with me being up late the night before, than the film being boring) the movie grew a lot. I could actually laugh at the lame 90’s jokes, enjoy the nostalgic intro and boy, did Steve Jobs look good in the 70’s?

I get the reason this film is a part of our course. Being born around the year of 1990 it’s hard to imagine a life without computers and how amazing it must have been, watching the advanced technology moving in to our homes and what a great revolution the PC was, both technically and for the society in big. Also, it was really intersting getting to know more about the actual WAR that took place between IBM, Microsoft, Apple and others long gone forgetten (lost in the war).

I will not call Triumph of the Nerds mind blowing, but rich of depth and interesting. It kind of feels like I now know Jobs, Gates, Wozniak – Steve, not John (big Marcy Playground fan) – and the others and I am impressed by the courage they had at such young age, taking huge risks. Maybe they were just dumb. Today, anyhow, those still alive are incredibly rich. Too bad I’m not a nerd in 1973. At least I shower.

Sweet day

At lesson right now. I do feel that I know too much about this stuff already, for it to be truly interesting. I already blog, tweet, use flickr, photoshop, use a google account, use a youtube account and so on. Though, many of my class mates seem to learn a lot. Maybe I’m just bitter today. Okay, I am bitter today. Sorry. It’s just that… I got this amazing opportunity to do a really cool interview for the paper and now we can’t do it because the site will be up four days too late. That sucks. So I’m bitter. Sorry again, I will try to learn something. Maybe I will learn how to cope with bitterness, oh, not so very sweet bitterness.

Ya all have a great day.

The twitter tale and the tail

Now, I also have a  school twitter to go with this blog! It’s only a little bit more depressing than my regular twitter, so you folks may like it! …or not: GO TO MY TWITTER

Reading in the book “The Power o Social Networking – using the whuffie factor to build your business” last night i came across a paragraph which spoke about Chris Anderson and “the long tail” and I went “wait a minute! ‘the long tail’, I do remember something about that!”. I walked over to my shelf and TADAAA, I pulled out a book. “The Long Tail” by Chris Anderson… Thankyou, father, for being in the marketing business and handing me books after (I guess, not) reading them. If only I get the time to read it, wouldn’t that be impressive?

Communication and Technology

Welcome!

This is my first entry in this blog, connected to the part course Communication and Technology that I take on the School of Education and Communication (Jönköping University). Normally I don’t write in english and normally I am not this boring. Normally I blog here, even though my blog has been kind of asleep the past few weeks (I have a great way of doing too many things at once, for example founding a new web based school paper my first week in school). Anyhow, I hope this will be a nice experience and that I will learn a lot, despite having had a blog since I was 15.

C’mon, tudors, teach me something GREAT!

PS. If you wonder about my choice of  header and the fish… I am The Fish.
